Dr. Steven T. Usry is the Lead Pastor of Sugarloaf. He is a church planter, executive coach, and serves in leadership with several boards for the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Steven completed his undergraduate degrees at Lee University (BA Vocal Performance/BS Biblical Education), his Masters of Divinity at Candler School of Theology (Emory University), and his Doctorate of Ministry at Asbury Theological Seminary. His dissertation explored "Building for Critical Mass When Launching New Churches".
Steven experienced a call to ministry at the early age of 13 and has served the following churches in ministry:
He is a native of Augusta, Georgia and has been married to his wife Julie for 25 years. They have three children: Abigail (22), Andrew (20) and Alex (18). Over 19 years of ministry experience serving as both an ordained pastor and worship leader with all aspects of growing a church, leading a worship service musically, using creative arts and technical tools. Chip is a highly skilled musician, rich and diverse creative artist, strong stage developing skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, extensive experience developing teams and leaders, deeply committed Christian with a flourishing personal faith. With God’s help, his mission is to create moments that do just that, leading all to the abundant life in Christ. Desiring to create more than just a program but to use our gifts to point to a purpose and a people to belong, to empower an unstoppable team to proclaim the greatness of God and the redemptive work of Christ. Crystal has been on staff for over 2 years with Sugarloaf and has enjoyed taking care of our youngest members. She is a member of our Emmaus community and has served on several walks over the years. Crystal has 3 very active children and enjoys spending time with them as a PTA President and during their sporting activities. To contact Crystal email her at email@example.com.
Heather has been with us for over a year and is serving as our Youth Pastor. She has been a long time member of our congregation and we are blessed to have her. Terri Strawn has been working at Sugarloaf since August of 2004. She currently serves the church in the area of Missions, Membership and Congregational Care. She is married to Jay and they have two grown children, Abby and Connor and a sweet son-in-love named Tyler. When she has spare time she loves to craft, Pinterest, read and cook. Nancy Burns has been working at Sugarloaf since February of 2003. She and her husband Joe enjoy watching college football, visiting with their grandchildren and traveling to see family. Jackie serves Sugarloaf as Director of our Weekday Preschool. She taught preschool for 9 years and has 20 plus years of business and managerial experience. She has a passion for Christ-centered early childhood education and is excited to help continue Sugarloaf's tradition of excellence in this area of ministry. She lives in Suwanee with her daughter Riley, who attends North Gwinnett High School, and their cat Orion.
